Winthrop Chamber of Commerce

Winthrop's annual "Horribles Parade" featuring homemade floats and kids & adults in costume, takes place the morning of Saturday, July 4th. Departing from the Public Landing, 651 Shirley Street, at 9:00 am, the parade winds through Point Shirley ending at Coughlin Park for field games.

Fireworks over Winthrop Harbor takes place at approximately 9:15 pm on the 4th of July. The rain date will be Sunday night. Point Shirley will be closed to vehicular traffic at approximately 6:00 pm. Donations can be made to the Winthrop Fireworks Committee and mailed or dropped off at 64 Woodside Ave. For more info from the Police Dept: PowerPoint presentation.

This year there will be NO town bonfire on July 3.

Sandcastle Festival New Date: July 11

The annual Winthrop Parks & Recreation Sandcastle Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 11 at Yirrell Beach on Point Shirley from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm with games, prizes, music, and food. There is a $10 contest fee. Rain date is Sunday, June 28.

Old Fashioned Day at the Beach July 25

The 12th annual Winthrop Chamber of Commerce "Old Fashioned Family Day at the Beach" promises fun in the sun for everyone. Yirrell Beach on Point Shirley will be the spot on Saturday, July 25 (rain date Sunday, July 26) from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be lots of contests, games, music, and a barbecue. Special thanks to the Winthrop MarketPlace for their support.

Old Fashioned Seaside Splash July 25

The Point Shirley Athletic Club is having their annual "Seaside Splash" ocean swim as part of the Old Fashioned Family Day at the Beach on Saturday July 25 at 1:30 pm.

2009 Taste of Winthrop Sept. 30

The 2009 "Taste of Winthrop" is set for Wednesday, September 30 at the Winthrop Yacht Club from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Over 30 of the area's finest eating establishments will have delicious samples of everything from soups and appetizers to entrees and desserts.
